The DigitalRune Engine is a 3D game engine for the Microsoft .NET Framework and the Microsoft XNA Game Studio (supporting Windows, Windows Phone 7 and Xbox 360). It is a bundle of all DigitalRune game development libraries, covering mathematics, geometry (collision detection), physics, particle systems, animation, graphics, game logic, GUIs and more.
The modular design gives developers the freedom to use individual libraries or the whole package to develop games using cutting-edge technology.
Alpha Version Libraries
DigitalRune Animation, Game and Game UI are currently available as alpha versions. So far we have received very positive feedback. There may be some minor changes in the final release version, but you can now use the libraries in your applications – they are not restricted to internal testing anymore.
Libraries Under Development
DigitalRune Graphics and DigitalRune Particles are two libraries currently under development. Those libraries will be added to the DigitalRune Engine for free. We will try to release alpha versions as soon as possible.
Changes for Existing Customers
The DigitalRune Engine is the successor of the DigitalRune Physics Bundle. Customers who have previously bought the DigitalRune Physics Bundle (either Indie or Professional license) will receive an upgrade to the DigitalRune Engine for free! – You are welcome, and we thank you for your trust and support.
Current license keys unlock DigitalRune Mathematics, Geometry and Physics, but not the new libraries. Therefore, you will receive new license keys within the next weeks.
Customers who have bought DigitalRune Mathematics or DigitalRune Geometry can contact us regarding upgrade prices.
Pricing, Licensing
Currently the DigitalRune Engine is available at the same price as the previous DigitalRune Physics Bundle! We decided to keep this price for a limited time to reward early adopters.
The DigitalRune Engine is available under the same hassle-free license terms: No royalties, runtime fees or distribution fees. Free upgrades for the same major version.
The Future
The DigitalRune Engine starts out as a powerful and flexible set of core libraries. New capabilities, like a game editor, asset import, networking, shader editor, etc., are already in the works and we will release more information after DigitalRune Graphics and DigitalRune Particles are finished.
